Culture, body, gender, sexuality in adult trainings
For whom
Trainers, educators, counselors that are:
– engaged in intercultural approaches, with a multicultural student group
– involved in themes of health, gender, sexuality
– involved in physical / sports education
– teaching language for migrants
– wishing to acquire teaching methods that ar embodied
– involved in the accompaniment of intercultural mobility
Pedagogical objectives
– to gain a better understanding of cultural differences in gender, body, health, disability and sexuality.
– to develop skills to reflect on their students’ and their own non-verbal behaviour.
– to be able to design and lead their own trainings taking into account cultural differences in gender, body and sexuality, in particular will have more facility in handling tensions and incompatibilities.
– to adopt to own practice more embodied training methods.
Methods
the BODY training has the following methodological pillars:
– It is built on extensive research, to make sure it answers critical situations and challenges that adult educators face during their work.
– It is based on a modular structure, which makes it possible to construct trainings later from the building block according to the actual needs of the trainers to receive the training (modules focusing on: body, non-verbal communication, health, gender, sexuality each module implying an overview on aspect of diversity found relevant: cultural, ethnic, religious, handicap, sexual orientation) and it also makes easy to insert it into initial training curricula of the above domains.
– In its pedagogy it relies on the approach on intercultural and non-formal learning, with interactive tasks, the role of trainer approaching facilitation, based on the active participation of all.
Results
– development of intercultural competence in training situations.
– acquisition of key concepts and vocabulary of gender, sexuality, health and disability.
– acquaintance with a theory and practice of intercultural analysis and conflict negotiation.
– acquisition of concrete methods, exercises to adapt in one’s own practice.

Day 1
Morning
Introduction
Embodied warming up exercises followed by an interactive, non- formal introduction of participants, expectations about the training, agreement, presentation of the course.
Afternoon
« What is culture » – exploration of the concept of culture and the impact it has on how we think, feel, behave. Different types of culture. Culture and the body – introduction of an analysis frame to explore the diversity of values behind body-related practices.

Morning
Culture, communication and body non-verbal aspects of communication.
Intercultural, embodied negotiation. Afternoon
Health in a cross-cultural perspective

Gender in a cross-cultural perspective. Making sense of different concepts and notions related to gender.
Gender continuum: introducing colours to the black and white gender identity scale. Afternoon
Sexuality in a cross-cultural perspective.

Day 4
Morning
Disability in a cross-cultural perspective.
Two interactive methods to work about representations about disability.
Afternoon
Field work: meeting local organisations offering good practices in the BODY themes. Participants make interviews with organisations of their own choice or the ones proposed by the host institution.

Morning – Debriefing the field work. Group work on connecting the course content with own practice: constructing new projects. Afternoon – presentation of group works, evaluation, closing.

3) Download the application form from your National Agency.

4) In order to complete it, you will have to:
a. Identify a European Development Plan for your organisation

5) Submit the electronic application (eForm) to your national agency before noon 17th March 2014 (Bruxelles time).

“A társasági találkozások során a testünk adja az első benyomást. A test rendelkezik azokkal a vizuális jelekkel, melyek alapján automatikusan kategorizáljuk egymást (kor, nem, etnicitás, fogyatékosság, stb.), sokszor ezek mentén ítéleteket is hozunk. A test emellett a kommunikáció és a tisztelet szabályainak megnyilvánulási felülete is – mindazoknak a szabályoknak, melyek nagy változatosságot mutatnak az egyes kultúrák között…”(Részlet a BODY projekt leírásából, 2011)
Az Ars Erotica Alapítvány (www.arserotica.org) 2011-ben kezdett egy kétéves nemzetközi kutatási-képzési projektet franciákkal, dánokkal, belgákkal és olaszokkal. A projekt címe BODY, és különféle felnőtt-képzési helyzetekben kerestük azokat a szituációkat, amikor a kulturális különbségeink testünk, nemi szerepeink vagy szexualitásunk megélésben jelennek meg. Olyan szervezeteket vagy egyéneket vontunk be a programba, akik felnőttekkel dolgoznak, és a munkájukban napi szinten jelen van valahogyan a test, a szexualitás. A program egy nemzetközi kompetencia-fejlesztő képzéssel és egy kézikönyv kiadásával zárult. A kultúra fogalmát tágan értelmeztük; az etnikai különbözés mellett ide tartozik bármiféle másság, legyen az szociokulturális háttéren, testi fogyatékon vagy szexuális identitáson alapuló. Azt gondoljuk, hogy azok a felnőtt csoportokkal vagy egyénekkel foglalkozó szakemberek, akiknek a munkájában a test, a szexualitás közvetlenül érintett, szükségszerűen szembesülnek azzal, hogy a kulturális hátterünk mennyire befolyásolja a testről, szexualitásról, nemi szerepekről alkotott fogalmainkat és azt, ahogyan ezt a hétköznapokban megéljük.
A programban alapvetően nem-formális módszertannal dolgoztunk, amiben hangsúlyos volt a csoportmunka, a tapasztalati tanulás, vita, eset-megbeszélések. A képzésen résztvevő szakemberek nagyon sok szakterületről, alapvetően segítő szakmákból érkeztek; pszichológusok, családsegítők, ifjúságsegítők, szociális munkások, értelmi fogyatékosokkal dolgozó szakemberek, gyógypedagógusok, mozgáskorlátozottakkal foglalkozó szakemberek, cigány fiatalokkal, drogfüggő nőkkel foglalkozó szociális munkások, pedagógusok, menekültügyi szakemberek, gyász-haláleseteteket támogató pszichológiai szakemberek, trénerek, stb. A résztvevők változatos szakmai háttere gazdag szakmai és interkulturális párbeszédet tett lehetővé.
A tavaly Budapesten megtartott képzést ismét megszervezünk, 2014 szeptemberében, ezúttal Palermóban.
A képzés célja, hogy segítséget nyújtson kompetenciafejlesztés, attitűd formálás, készségfejlesztés területén dolgozó (nem terápiát, gyógykezelést vagy szolgáltatást nyújtó) szakembereknek saját kompetenciáinak fejlesztésében. Abban, hogy a kulturális különbségek okán létrejött konfliktusok vagy nem-értések hogyan kezelhetők.
